 White Wine

   Holden Manz
      Chenin Blanc £25
An elegant, perfumed example of Chenin Blanc. Medium bodied with well balanced acidity. The palate shows a mirage of quince, pear, peach and melon. Hints of oak with characters of fresh buttered brioche and honey make for a long finish. Pair alongside roasted chicken and fish.

Ernie Els Big Easy £25
Ernie Els Big Easy White is 100% Chenin Blanc and shows the beautiful, pure-fruited and charming 2018 vintage. Dominated by citrus in its youth, the nose offers complexity with peaches, strawberries and fresh cream. A sprinkle of spice and slight peppery edge contrasts the soft, creamy mouth feel, while nutty and mineral notes gather further complexity. Medium bodied and stylish, the palate ends with a long and dry, discreetly fruity finish.

Verdejo £19.50
Bodegas Pedro Escudero Fuente Milano Verdejo Viura is a brilliant greenish-yellow colour, its elegant nose displays the classic, gently herbal notes of Verdejo which are softened by the tropical fruit-scented Viura. In the mouth, Fuente Milano has a range of very fresh, white and yellow fruits which give complexity. Expressive, with good length and it's top value.
Holden Manz Chardonnay £30
This Chardonnay is barrel fermented – a method of wine-making that aids the integration of oak flavours into the finished wine. The fruit was hand-picked in the early morning to preserve levels of acid in the grapes. Fermented in 225-litre barrels, it spent ten months ageing with regular lees stirring. The result is a wine that combines a full body with cream, butter and toast characteristics and boasts a focused vein of acidity, citrus and stone fruit flavours. It is made in the image of the fine white wines of Burgundy.

Bouchard Finlayson Blanc De Mer £25

A lip-smacking, cool climate blend that is the perfect partner to fish, shellfish and white meats. It has a fragrant, Riesling dominated nose of grape, lime and peach fruit with a lovely weight of fruit on the palate and a luscious but mouthwatering finish. The richness of Viognier is countered by the Riesling's acidity and the Chardonnay's structure, followed by honeyed white fruit,
 lime and cape gooseberry flavours.
When wines are made from just one great variety they can be a little bland unless they come from a great terroir. This one has both! Great complexity from the careful blending of grape varieties together with origins that add texture and mineral notes, both of which make it ideal with fish and seafood. try it with cheese too, it will amaze you.

Red Wine

Holden Manz Visionaire 2014 £25
A big blend of Bordeaux and Rhone Valley varietals combined into one big ‘visionary’ blend. The palate is smooth and elegant, brimming with red and black fruits, accompanied by notes of graphite, pepper and spices. Soft and refined tannins make for a long, supple finish. A lovely wine to pair with barbecued cuts of meat, in particular steak with a peppery sauce or lamb with rosemary and thyme.

Holden Manz Big G 2016 £35

We’ve always been huge fans of Holden Manz Big G and have stocked it for a number of years. Holden Manz Big G demonstrates an explosion of berry fruits and soft ripe tannins creating a wonderfully balanced blend. Cabernet Franc, with its rich intensity of black fruit flavour and acid, combined with the balanced tannins and depth of fruit in the Cabernet Sauvignon results in a deeply complex and unique wine. The finish is superb, and this vintage of Holden Manz Big G really shows what these grapes can achieve in South Africa. Ripe dark fruit, graphite, cassis, a subtle herbaceousness, nuances of blueberry and thyme backed with hints of cedar wood and pencil shavings. Soft, voluptuous integrated tannins with a rich creamy cassis freshness. Silky smooth mid palate with a finish which is full of dark fruit and long lingering flavours. Great tension too!
